I am 8.5 months old!

hello!

This is Ryan Kwan and I am now 8.5 months old. So many things have happen the last 2 months and I have been super busy and no time to update this blog.I travelled round the world to Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. I love to travel and sit in the plane on mummy...:D I also can get over my jet-lag quickly.
I can now crawl! I am loving it as I get to move around and chase after mummy! I can also climb all over and love to climb on mummy when she is sleeping. At 8.5 months, I prefer to stand instead of crawling. I can also climb stairs now at a quick rate. Mummy needs to take a video of this (she is too busy watching me to make sure I don't fall down)

I have 5 teeth. My top two teeth came out while I was in Singapore and one more bottom tooth came out this week. My teething is making me grumpy and I try and bite mummy all the time.

Oh! I met my cousin Sophie. I love her and get extremely excited when I see her.

My trip to Asia was the best. I loved getting to see mummy and daddy day and night everyday. I was in my best behavior most of the time. Flying and boat rides were no issues to me. I did not care for the noise the plane made cos I got to lie on mummy. I also got to sleep on the same bed as mummy and daddy the whole trip. So much fun! I did get grumpy due to not enough sleep cos mummy and daddy kept taking me out for dinner appointments and I could not sleep at 8pm.
I also played with Grandma a lot. She took care of me and gave me baths daily. She also fed me meals and put me to sleep. How come I don't see grandma lately?

I love food! I have tried so many new foods during my trip and loved every single one. Papaya's are the best. And hard boil eggs for breakfast were great. Mummy would order me an egg each time we went to Jaipur Indian Restaurant for breakfast (they went there like 3-4 times a week to eat Roti Canai and Roti Banana).

I also got carried a lot from everyone. I would give my biggest smile and some aunty or uncle would want to carry me. They would also offer to feed me my meal, or take me to see things.

Below is a pic of me with my Ku Poh.

mmm, my cheek hurts from all the cheek pinching from Aunty Cindy. Since she pinches my cheeks, I find opportunities to pinch baby Sophie when no one is looking..;)

and, somehow, I have no more hair! I kinda like it cos my head gets rubbed a lot by everyone. Mummy also rubs my head more. She keeps telling me that she wants to shave it again!

The picture below was taken right after I shaved my head.

Oh, while in Thailand, I got to play with sand for the first time. sand is interesting.....

Till next time.. (which i hope is soon)...:)

Over the weekend.....

We were invited to Madison's 1st birthday party over the weekend. I met Madison's mom through the Castro Valley's mother's club and our frenship has grown since..:)

Below is a pic of Ryan with the birthday girl.

Ryan was excited to sit at the table with all the other kids....
Ryan was extremely happy because he was able to play with Madison's toys..:P

Happy Birthday Madison..:)

Over the weekend, we also visited the new indian restaurant in Castro Valley, called Aroma Restaurant.

I ordered the lunch special Chicken Tikka Masala and Gordon ordered the Lamb Vindaloo... both were yum and included garlic naan (double naan)

Also, they had patio sitting... and the weather was so nice that we were able to sit outside.

Hopefully they will stay around. Their prices were a little higher, but ok since we did not need to drive. mmmm... I should take food to go one night... yum..:D

After eating, we took a walk around Lake Chabot park. It was the last day of summer and we had use the last day of summer well...(where did summer go?!?!?!)

Sleeping arrangements

** We put Ryan's name on his room door. Letters are courtesy of my sister..:) **

During our Asia trip, Ryan slept with us on the same bed almost nightly. We were not sure how his sleeping arrangement would be when we got back....

Ryan now sleeps on his full size bed with baby fence around him. He goes to bed around 8pm, and wakes up around midnight and 3am seaching for us. Either Gordon and I would go over and go back to sleep with him. He does sleep again until around 6am for a feed and wil sleep till 7.30am..:)

This arrangement seems to be working and we are thinking about keeping the crib away for good and make more space in his room.

We do watch him closely with the video webcam monitor. You can see the webcam at the top right hand corner of the picture. We love looking at him at the camera when he wakes up at night. He would sit up, look around, and sometimes even play on his own for a couple of minutes before looking for us. It is super cute..:) Most times, he would wake up, and look around and flop back to sleep at some other part of the bed..:D

In other news, Ryan now holds his bottle with one hand.......how can this baby hands hold a heavy glass bottle with one hand.........!

Here is Ryan in his pajamas from Malaysia. These are pajamas for a 3 year old...So cute on him..:D

During our Malaysia trip, Ryan's sleeping schedule had been a little messy, cos we would take him out and he doesn't get to sleep on a schedule...

The first few days we were here, he fell asleep as we fed him dinner (he ate three spoon fulls and his eyes closed)

Here is a video we took while taking a walk to Jacob Gables garden at the Singapore Botanical Garden. He was sleepy but insisted on sucking his milk bottle..:)

We also took him to One Utama shopping mall one afternoon and he fell asleep on his stroller. Check out the picture... i was pushing him around and started to wonder why everyone was staring at him when they passed him... finally, I asked a staring person if he fell asleep and she said "yes!".... O.O... they must be wondering why I am such a mean mom and not let Ryan lay down and sleep....

We are back

Yes, we are back from our vacation. Arrived back on Sept 17; and went back to work on Sept 18.

Ryan is doing well and doesn't seem to have any jet lag. Gordon and I are still waking up at 4am..:P

We sent Ryan to the babysitter the last two days and he is enjoying it. There are now two other babies there, baby Darren (7 months) and baby Joey (5 months). Not sure how the babysitter can take care of 3 babies at a time; but I think they are all good temperment babies. Since Ryan is crawling, he can play on his own and crawl around until he is tired. Babysitter also has a walker and Ryan loves it.

Will update more when I have a chance. It is nice to be home... but the cold is getting to me already. I miss my shorts and t-shirt days!

Singapore O Singapore

We have completed our vacation at Singapore. My sister and Soon Jin were great host during our 9 day trip there. They picked us up at Malacca and we drove down together - 4 adults and 2 babies.... from what I remember from the journey, Ryan was cranky most of the 3.5 hour trip. I had to pacify him a lot. Good thing baby Sophie was able to sleep through most of the noise that Ryan was making.:)

Our trip in Singapore has been a busy one with lots of eating! We had many excellent meals including some japanese skewers place at Suntec City, pepper crab and curry crab, salted egg prawns, singapore pork prawn noodles, mee soto, dim sum, a meal at Dome restaurant and many others!

Most of our dinner meals were at home as my sis still has her confinement lady with her. She cooked up some nice balanced dinners. It was good too as Ryan wanted to go to sleep at 8pm and we watched some movies at home.

Desserts were also a big hit here. We had the portugese egg tarts, soy bean drinks, tou-foo-fah, mango dessert. We also bought some snow-skin mooncakes from The Fairmont Swiss Hotel. Snow-skin mooncakes are super yummy. I have no idea why US does not sell these!

It was super nice to just hang out with my sis, soon jin and sophie. We were not interested in shopping so we did random stuff like walking around Chinatown, visiting Suntec City, Marina Square, Esplanade, Vivo City, Sentosa island and talking short walks to the nearby Adam Rd food court area.

We did get a chance to meet up with Anne and Von Peng! It was nice to see them again and they loved playing and taking care of Ryan (which was great for us cos we got to eat and walk around with our babysitters).:)

Update on Ryan's crawling....

oh, all these crawling, has to given him several bruises. Poor baby. He crawled out of the bed one night and hit his head. He likes to wake up silently and instead of crying, he prefers to come look for us. So, one night, we were all busy watching the Hancock movie and suddenly we heard him crying in the room and when I walked in, I found him on the floor. Good thing he was on a air mattress on the floor, but we did find him with a blue black bruise the next morning.

Can you see it?

Ryan is also very "lan fan" which means he likes to move around when he sleeps and takes up the whole bed.

The picture below was taken during Ryan's night sleep. When we put him to sleep, he was on his flowery pillow. 3 hours later, he ended up near the end of the bed at the wall area.... he just loves to move around when he is sleeping.

Here is the video of Ryan's first crawl.:)

We also made a trip over to Vivo city for some claypot chicken rice followed by a trip into Sentosa. We have not been to Sentosa before and had to see what the hype was all about. We parked at Vivo City and took the express train into Sentosa. This is the best deal as it was only 3.00 for round trip. It was nice to see the beaches and all the entertainment at Sentosa.

Singapore was fun! Thanks to the host for a great trip!Oh, the best thing about the trip, I got to play with Sophie for 9 days! I loved getting to just carry her and play with her. She is very sweet and can give little smiles when I play rough with her..:)

hehhehe

Ryan loves Sophie

Ryan just loves his cousin baby Sophie. He gets extremely excited when he sees her and will wave his arms in delight and also let out a happiness scream...

I think Soon Jin and Cindy were pretty worried that Ryan may hit Sophie and hurt her... or was it Gordon who was more worried? Good news is Sophie is still in one piece after Ryan accidentally kicked her, slammed her tummy, pulled her hand and feet, pulled off her mittens, ... and others...(not to be mentioned here since no one else saw it)...;)

This video will explain it all. This was taken during our visit to Singapore the last few days..:)

Ryan also spent a lot of hanging out time with Sophie. The two pics below show them sleeping in the same area when Sophie was back in Malaysia.

Here are more pics of Ryan and Sophie playing...

Don't they look so cute together?

Ahh... so much fun. I am sure Ryan can't wait to spend more time with Sophie when she gets bigger.
