Ryan @ 2 years 10.5 months

Yes,  time is flying and Ryan is almost three years old.

Just today, he decided that he would call us MOM and DAD instead of mummy and daddy..... he must learn this from school.
Overall, he is a pretty good kid. He continues to learn how to share with his little brother.. somehow he prefers to take things from Dylan and sometimes he remembers to exchanges things for the things he wants. We have been reading to go ahead and let the kids fight things out themselves, as long as they are not getting hurt. Let's see if that will work.

He has his whiny moments and he has his mornings when he wakes up and wants ye-ye. Yes, can you imagine waking up to a kid saying "I want ye-ye, I want ye-ye". The only thing I can say is that the bridge and the Bart is not open yet. so we can't go see ye-ye....

He still loves his milk.. i think he drinks about 24 ounces a day of 2% low fat milk. I dont think we are going to be successful in removing his bottle from him now since he loves to drink from the bottle. He also knows to ask for chocolate, and knows where to find the chocolate (in the cupboard).

He is at the point where he wants to try things, and when I say it won't work, he would say "let me try". I usually let him try, to let him see that what i said was right. He also wants to do things himself. he says "let me do it, or I will do it"..he is a picture of him washing his hands by himself.

He can even go to the bathroom by himself, but does not know how to wipe his own butt yet.

His new thing lately is, he can tell me that his bday is on January 13. I have to video it one of these days..:)

Ryan as a chef.

oH, the other new thing... when he sees someone we know... and it is time to go home... he will go to them and say "can I kiss you, can I hug you" and gives them a hug and a kiss... yes, he shows his affections to both male and female.. pretty sweet..:D

His school situation is improving. He gets all sad when we talk about school but he does not cry. On the days he has to go to school, he will accept the fact that he has to go school, has tears in his eyes, but no major crying. He will also ask daddy to pick him up. When we reach school and he sees the teacher, he crys, but when we leave, he stops.. so not too bad. He has come home knowing several songs and likes to show up his art from school. His teachers have told me several times that he only asks for daddy at school... urm, yah, that is because daddy drops his off and daddy picks him up!
Ryan trying to play with Dylan..:D
Ryan's sleeping habits : He sleeps from 9.30 to 6.30am. Nap is around 2pm for 1.5 hours. We still have to go with him to sleep and he usually rolls in bed for 10 minutes and goes to sleeep. He also knows to tell us when he is tired.

I guess i need to think about his third bday... what shall i do?

Happy Birthday Gordon!

Gordon celebrated his birthday yesterday..:) Since it is always close to Thanksgiving, we had a party with the turkey... gobble gobble.
Lucky guy, had two cakes and of course, two handsome kids with him.

At least the two cakes gave Gordon a chance to blow the candles on one of the cake.. and Ryan blew the other.

Happy Bday sweetie..:)

Dylan @ 13.5 months

Hi world! It is me, Dylan Kwan!!

Yes, I finally found time to update the blog..:D

I am growing quickly. I can now walk and run a little. I can also reach the door knob if I tiptoe. Mummy says I am getting ready to open the door so I can go and chase after my ko-ko.

I love following Ryan everywhere. I also love the toys that he plays with. They are the coolest. When he is not home, and I get hold of the toy, I smile with glee and play with the toys for a long time.

I am learning how to cosy up to mummy and daddy. If I see Ryan close to them, I will also come close and want to lie down on them. I need to get my affection time too!

Above is a video of me trying to sleep.Mummy is tickling me and I am laughing while I sleep.

I love to go out (just like Ryan). I would find my shoes and give it to mummy so she will put them on for me. Then I will bang on the front door so they would open the door. If mummy says bye bye to me, I would go to the door and hope she brings me out as well.

I can say da-da, ma-ma, and ball. I can recognize certain things and pictures including balloon, door, daddy, mummy, ryan ko-ko, shoes. I can also pick up my diaper and put it in the trash can. I sure know how to help my parents.

My eating habits are hard. I am picky in my food and my parents are trying hard to make me eat. I would rather feed myself and make a big mess. I don't really know what i like to eat, so I would try things and spit it out. I do like cold pasta if I get to eat it myself. My parents still feed me formula for most of my milks, to ensure I get my nutritions.

My new thing is shaking my head to show "no". however, I shake my head for yes and for no, so my parents dont know if I mean yes or no. I just keep shaking my head..:P

I seldom fall asleep while drinking my milk. I would rather roll around and go up and down the bed before I finally fall asleep close to someone.

Check out of a video of me being fascinated..:D

Will update more when I have time!

Happy Halloween 2010

Booo! Happy Halloween. This year, Halloween was more elaborated, since the kids know how to trick or treat.

Ryan as a fireman and Dylan as a pumpkin. Dylan would move away when I showed up with the costume. Guess he does not like something orange on him..:D

We took the kids to my office to trick and treat.. Both had a great time.

Pic above are the kids at the Castro Valley village. All the shops were giving out candy. So many people and after a  while, some shops said "out of candy... awwww".

The week before Halloween, we went over to Sodany's house for pumpkin carving. The adults ended up doing all the work. The kids just played and ran off to play other things.

Check out the super cool pumpkins we carved!

Halloween day, we hung out to watch the Giants game. Then, we went around the neighborhood to get candy. There were few young kids... so when the adults saw our kids, they were pretty happy and gave the kids more candy.

We also made it to Lu Fun's house and she went all out on the Halloween theme. Pic above shows Ryan with his eyeball. She used longan, added some red jelly and black pearl.
Pic above: Ghost shaped cookies, Witches Broom (pretzel sticks and fruity loom), Teeth (apple), Witches Nails (string cheese with green colored almond as the nails, and carrot with almond as the nails).

Really cool..:)

Childrens Discovery Musuem - San Jose

We made it to the San Jose Discovery musuem recently..

Here are some pics from our trip. Ryan was so excited to see the fire truck that he was skipping..:D .He also loved the fireman jacket..

The boys playing with the kitchen stuff at the musuem. They were making pizza.
Here is Ryan playing with soft white sand. He enjoyed scooping the sand into small containers.

Here are the kids sharing a snack..:)

Ryan and pre-school

Ryan has started pre-school at 2 year 9 months. From day one of us mentioning the word "school", he already said "I don't want to go to school". He only wants to go if mummy or daddy stays with him.

To prepare him for school, we took him in the evenings to hang out. He was ok with the "hanging out" part.

The weekend before school started, whenever we mentioned the word "school", he would have tears in his eyes and would lead to crying... so, we did not mention it anymore.

First day of school, he threw up twice, and would cry everytime there was a change in activity. Poor kid. guess he was totally traumatized.... Day two, we decided to send him the same day as Ethan, his fren from daycare, and I think the day was a little better.

We are now at day 4, he still says he does not want to go to school and wants to go to the babysitter's house. He will cry when he gets to school, but supposedly stops earlier. At the end of the day, he wants to bring home his pillow and blanket so that he does not have to go to school again... I really think that having Ethan there has helped..:)

We have to pack lunch for him, and even when he sees us packing his lunch box, he says "I don't want to go to school". heheh. So, lunches have been simple; pasta, peanut butter jelly bread, chicken strips.. we usually add some cookies so it would be fun. So far, he has not eaten too much. The school gives snacks with milk.

I am glad we finally have him in school. He has come home with many sheets of art which means he gets to do stuff that he does not do at home. Since he doesn't like school, he does not want to tell me what he does in school. He did mention that he saw strawberries and they were still small and cannot be eaten yet.

Happy schooling Ryan!
