I want this..

Ryan's new phrase nowadays is "I want this".

It really helps us understand what he wants since he is very specific..:). Of course, when he is suppose to eat his dinner, he points to the orange and says "I want this..."

He can also say "I want to put money" meaning he wants to put coins into the coin sorting machine.

It is cute to hear him make sentences... too cute....

Today, jan 1, 2010, he decided to go and poo in the potty by himself.

He did not tell us, walk over to the potty, pulled down his pants and started poo-ing.

Gordon passed him a wipes and went upstairs to get something and Ryan took the wipe and tried to wipe his butt himself!

Wow, this kid is really growing up.

Woo-hoo - A night out!

Gordon's cousin, Daisy visited us from Hong Kong. She was only here for the weekend since she had to catch a  flight from SFO to HK.

We were thankful for a great time in HK when we last visited and wanted to spend time with Daisy, so, we actually made a impromptu decision to stay over night at Gordon's parents house on Saturday.

After we put the kids to sleep around 8.30pm, we jumped for joy and headed out to downtown SF for dinner. We included Daisy, Gordon, Henry, my father in law and myself.

Our first option was to try "The Burger Bar" at downtown Macy's. Of all nights, the Burger Bar was closed a an event. Darn.

After much discussion, we decided to try Lulu Restaurant.

We ordered the mussels, the antipasta, the special pasta, the pizza and the chicken. The food was yums, the ambience was nice (everyone was dressed up except us!) and the service was great.

Our food arrived around 9.45pm. This must be the latest I have had dinner in a long long time.

Such fun to go out at night without the kids, however, after dinner, I was hit by exhaustion and just wanted to go home and sleep.

We came home and both the kids were still sound asleep....more night outs in the future?

Ryan is almost TWO! Happy 23 month old bday...

Wow, in one months time, Ryan turns two! Time flies....

We have been busy with both kids, but Ryan never ceases to impress us daily with his communication skills and his vocabulary.

He is able to voice out his needs since he knows so many more words. I guess this means less crying. He does know how to whine, and I have to tell him nicely not to whine and talk.

Now, when he wakes up at night and no one is next to him, he will yell "mummy/daddy", instead of walking over to our bed.

Hiw favourite toys are his laptop, spoons, plates.

Oh, since grandma came over, Ryan is now exposed to Elmo, Wheels of the bus and Baby Einstein dvd's. When he wants to watch, he says "elmo, elmo, elmo" in his cute voice..:) Grandma already watched the dvd's with him and explained to him what goes on.In his Elmo dvd, when Elmo is about to open the door, Ryan says "door, door". In his Wheels of the bus dvd, he points to the boat and yells "boat".

He also knows how to read his own books. His favorite include the "I Spy" books. He can spy everything and say most of the things like squirrel, ladder, bunny, balloon  (I am impressed!)

He also says "I-ruv-you" to Baby Dylan. Too sweet.

He understands when i say I am busy and goes and plays with his toys. As I type this post, he is playing with his tool set.

Spoilt..

My thoughts on Dylan's sleeping habits during the night:

Waking every 2 hours, I said "yikes, i forgot babies wake every two hours to eat".

Waking every 4 hours, I said "much better, but can u sleep longer?"

Waking every 6 hours, I said "ahh, much better, but can u sleep for 8 hours?"

Waking every 8 hours, I said "wow, my baby is sleeping thru the night"

Waking every 12 hours (this happened twice so far), I said "wow, 13 hours can ah?"

Am I spoilt or what?

Nowadays, he can sleep 4-6-8 hours, depending on his mood.

And you know.. the only reason he doesn't  sleep through the night, is because I don't feed him enough in the day and I let him sleep too much in the day.

I am such a spoilt and demanding mother!
