Ryan is officially crawling at 7 months 10 days..:)

We were at Malacca in the hotel room and he decided to crawl on the bed. I have a video of this event and will post it soon!

Since we are now in Singapore, I told my sis that we will make sure her place is child proof..;)

Heading to Malacca and Singapore

We are heading off to Malacca tomorrow and staying a night and then spending 9 days in Singapore with my sis..:)

Ryan has gotten back into his routine and is sleeping around 8.00pm and waking up around 6am for milk and sleeping again till 7.45am. He does wake up several times in the night and sits up with his eyes wide open. He will roll around the bed for 5-10 minutes and fall back asleep. I think he just wants to make sure Gordon and I are next to him. Yes, he is sleeping the same bed as us for the moment!

Ryan must be pretty confused.. he is super tired and there are nights where we go out for dinner and see frens/family and he is half awake and half asleep. Good thing is he is curious to see where we are and wakes up with a smile on his face.

We started putting Ryan in a walker to "contain" him. It has definitely helped and we can actually do stuff while he walks around in the walker. It is amazing how fast he learned to move in the walker (within a day). Now, he can move anywhere he wants and quickly too!

He also learned to suck from a straw. I have no clue how babies learn to do such stuff... but I did give him water with a straw a couple of times (i suck the water and put it in his mouth) and now he knows how to suck from a straw cup. Amazing!

So, what has Gordon been up to? Watching TV mostly and eating..:) He catches his CNBC programs, trade stocks and watches the Olympics. He also went for a couple of body and foot massages... and a pedicure....oh, he sprained his back for a couple of days, so he was out of commission. Good news is that he is better, but he doesn't carry Ryan..:P

As for me, I was able to do a couple of massages as well (they are SO addictive) and just eating, and meeting up with frens. The other day, I met up with my primary school frens (frens from 10 years old); Shelley and Olivia.:) It was so nice to meet up with them and catch up. It was also nice to be able to have some conversations with them even thought we have not seen each other for ages! hope that we can continue to keep in contact for many many more years to come.

Oh, for the olympics, Malaysia did win ONE silver medal. Lee Chong Wei, our badminton player won the medal (no comment on his final competition against China's Lin Dan)...:P

And finally, Gordon and I celebrated our 3 year wedding day anniversary. Thank you to those who sent wishes... We did not do much due to a fully booked day, but was able to head out around 10pm for maggi mee goreng and drinks..:)

How long are we here?

In case anyone is wondering how long we will be on vacation....

we will be back in US on Sept 17....:P

We are vacationing for a total of 6 weeks!

Our current plan is

2 weeks in KL

1.5 weeks in Singapore

1 week in KL

1 week in Bangkok

:)

I wonder how Ryan is adapt back to life in the US... He sees Gordon and I day and night and seems to want to stare at us a lot.:P

Here is a video we took back in US. Ryan loves to try and play with my laptop when I am in front of it... so, one today, I let him play and he was smiling with glee....

Ryan has also learned to pay attention to other smaller things, like animals and babies... He is fascinated by Toby, my mom's doggy.

Sleeping and sitting up....

My little baby has learned to sit up from his tummy position (moving from crawling position to sitting position). It was cute to see how he does it as I was wondering how he would be able to move to a sit up position on his own.

So, all this cuteness has now become an interesting challenge...

Ryan would go to sleep, and when he moves while sleeping, he would want to sit up! So, if he is sleeping on his back, he moves, and turns to his tummy, gets into a crawl position and voila, sits up!

And, since he is sitting up, he would open his eyes and be wide awake. This has happened several times now.

In the middle of the night, two nights ago, he did the same thing and moved forward and launched towards the floor area. We were awaken by a noise which I jumped and said "where is Ryan!" and saw his nearer to the floor.

The same night, we were awoken by his playing in the dark while sitting up.....

And last night, he woke up, sat up and tried to climb to our bed (yes, my baby thinks his bed area is a gymboree playground; he is sleeping on a twin bed that is situated below our queen bed)

how how? is this a phase as he is excited that he can sit up??

What happens when he starts crawling? Is he going to wake up and crawl everywhere?

how how?
A pic of Ryan with his aunty Cindy..:)

My mom wants to know why Ryan has that big eye blank look when he looks at everyone..:P

Jet-setting in Asia

SURPRISE!

Yes, we are in Malaysia.....

It was a hush hush trip as we wanted to surprise my mom!!! Boy, was she surprised.

Our trip began from SF to Hong Kong. We stayed a night at Novotel Citygate by the HK airport. Highly recommended hotel as they have a free shuttle to the hotel and they take care of all the luggge from one location to the other, and the hotel is link to the Citygate outlet mall and to the Tung Sing MRT station. So convenient. The outlet mall was a very big one with many american brands. We were not shopping so did not check to see if prices were good.

Here's Ryan with MIL and FIL at the SFO airport.

I will blog more aboit HK in my next blog..:)

Here is Ryan sleeping on my on the plane. We had a bassinet, but his head was touching the top and his leg were touching the bottom...he only slept in it for an hour... we put it to good use by dumping all our stuff in it...)

Here is how we surprised my mom... my sis and I arranged so that we would be back in Malaysia the same time. So I planned to arrived at KL airport around 1.30pm from HK and she could pick me up.... her plans got a little messed up, but she was still able to meet us at the airport and we took a cab home to my mom's house.

Jin carried Sophie and my sis carried Ryan into the house while Gordon and I waited outside. My mom looked at Ryan and asked my sis who is is carrying and my sis said she was baby-sitting her friends' son. My mom said, "wow, you have nothing else to do and have time to baby sit someone elses baby?, and asked my sis for the name; my sis said his name is "boy". Of course, my mom was already more interested in baby Sophie and paid little attention to Ryan.

After a few minutes, my sis asked my mom to carry Ryan and my mom asked how old was the baby and said he was "as big as Ryan". My mom brought out a little mouse toy and said to Ryan "this toy I buy for Ryan, but I let you play a while first"........ my sis was already laughing but my mom did not suspect anything..hehehe..

Finally, my sis said to my mom "mom, we have a surprise for you" and Gordon and I walked in.... my mom was surprised... (i think she did not even recognize me, but when she saw Gordon, it finally hit her..)

It was a good surprise and we are excited to be here. So far, Ryan is doing well. He is super tired from the jet lag, but he is still smily and happy. I think our baby is going to be travelling a lot in the future.:)
